Katharina Fritsch Hahn/cock

HahnCock-by-Katharina-FritschAs a project manager at Kunstgiesserei St. Gallen, Tom Pawlofsky was responsible to develop a concept for the realisation of Katharina Fritsch’s sculpture Hahn / Cock. The sculpture was set up in July 2013 in London, trafalgar square, on the forth plinth.┬áThe main challenge was to develop a construction process, that fit to the needs of the artist, the constraints of the fragile statics and to the computer controlled production in combination with traditional craft. To coordinate the different partners and disciplines of the project, Tom Pawlofsky created a complex, digital 3d-model. This model combines high resolution mesh data with structural elements.

hahn_fertig_roh_The pictures shows the 4.72m high masterform, a core construction out of steel, milled wood and eps-foam, that was extended and covered with 3d-printed parts. This masterform was used to mold several negatives. The negatives served to form durable, high-quality glass-fibre reinforced plastic.
